This page lists every cookie knowyourvet.co.uk sets — today, there is exactly one, and it's essential to signing in.

The one cookie we set

• session — an essential, strictly-necessary cookie set only once you sign in via a magic link (Practice Portal or founder admin). It's HttpOnly (invisible to page scripts), Secure (HTTPS only), and SameSite=Lax. It holds a signed token proving who you are and expires automatically after 12 hours, or immediately if you log out.

That's the entire list. If you never sign in, no cookie is ever set for you.

No analytics or tracking cookies

We do not run Google Analytics, GA4, or any other analytics or advertising tracking script on this site, and none of them set a cookie here. Advertisements on Compare pages are static content read from our own database and are never selected or targeted using anything about you as a visitor — see our Privacy Policy for more on how ads work.

Why there's no cookie banner

UK/EU cookie rules only require asking your permission for non-essential cookies (analytics, advertising, personalisation). Because the only cookie this site sets is strictly necessary to sign in — something you've actively asked to do — there's currently nothing non-essential to ask your consent for, so we don't show a consent banner. If that ever changes (for example, if we add analytics in future), this page and a proper consent mechanism will be updated before any new cookie is set, not after.

Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser's settings. Doing so simply signs you out of the Practice Portal — it won't affect anything else on this site, since nothing else here depends on a cookie.
