knowyourvet.co.uk ("we", "us") is an independent price comparison site for UK veterinary services. This policy explains what personal data we actually collect through this site, why, and what we do with it.

What we collect

• Submitted prices — when you use Submit a Price, we store the procedure name, price, and (if you provide them) a practice and date. Your email address is optional — you can submit anonymously.
• Evidence photos — only if you tick "attach a self-redacted photo" and upload one, that image is stored so a moderator can review it before it's published. You're asked to blur or crop identifying details yourself first. If you use the separate "scan a receipt" auto-fill feature, that photo is read once to suggest form values and is never saved — it exists only for the duration of that one request.
• Sign-in email — the Practice Portal and founder admin area use passwordless "magic link" sign-in. We store the email address you enter and a hashed, single-use, 15-minute sign-in token — never the raw link itself.
• Practice claim details — if you claim a practice listing, we store the business email address you provide, and whether the claim matched the practice's registered domain/RCVS record automatically or needs manual review.
• Enquiry messages — messages sent to a practice via a Connect form are emailed directly to that practice; we don't keep a separate copy of the message content.

What we don't collect

We do not run any analytics or advertising tracking on this site — no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts that profile visitors. Advertisements shown on Compare pages are static content pulled from our own database and are never selected or targeted using anything about you as a visitor. Why we collect it

Submitted prices and evidence photos exist to keep this site's price data accurate and current. Sign-in email and claim details exist so a practice can prove it is who it says it is before editing its own listing. All of this is processed either with your consent (submitting a form is an active choice) or because it's necessary to provide the specific feature you've asked to use.

Who else sees it

We use two processors to run this site: Cloudflare (hosting, database, file storage, and the receipt-scan AI feature — all UK/EU-available infrastructure), and Resend (sends our sign-in and enquiry emails). Neither is given access beyond what's needed to provide their service to us. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

Submitted prices and practice listing data are kept as part of the site's ongoing price-comparison record. Magic-link sign-in tokens expire after 15 minutes and are single-use regardless of whether they're used. Session cookies expire automatically after 12 hours. If you'd like data linked to your email address deleted, contact us using the details below.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to how it's used. To exercise any of these, email [email protected].

Children

This site is intended for adults arranging veterinary care and is not directed at children.
